You know I wish fatphobia was less pervasive. Even among people who consider themself as progressive, it's rampant. So quick reminder. No it's actually not easy to stop being fat, and it sucks that we are treated differently for something we really can't control. Shaming a fat person for being fat, and shaming them for not having the "willpower" to become skinny- is bigotry. And if all you talk to fat people about is weight loss and dieting- congratulations! You're being a dick! Stop.

twitter is going to be shut down. half of reddit is locked or completely unmoderated. the entire first page of google search results are ads. tumblr does not and will never have a functioning search system and their content moderation is 100% automated. youtube only shares ad revenue with people who make snuff films for Youtube Kids. facebook is selling your grandma’s social security number under the table for like $5. web 2.0 is completely dead right

Dr. Alexander Hilbert (Wolf 359)
"How does he embody the fear: Dr. Hilbert is a deeply traumatized man who no longer cares for other people. He doesn't mind killing everyone he's ever known if it furthers his work to improve humanity. In fact, he's so happy to do this that he does it over and over again, to the point that his meglomanical corporate boss gets tired of it and tells him to off himself too.

How does he spread the fear: Dr. Hilbert is a master of divide and conquer. During his attempt to take over the station, he strands Minkowski in outer space and Eiffel in the comms room, using Hera to keep them separated once he's taken her over. Once he switches sides, he advocates for the same tactics against the SI-5. He also invokes a lot of fear in Eiffel specifically, isolating Eiffel in his lab for weeks at a time."

Lapis Lazuli (Steven Universe)
"A Gem formerly of Blue Diamond's court with water-manipulating powers that was once poofed by Bismuth during The Rebellion. Homeworld mistook her for a Crysal Gem and trapped her in a mirror to interrogate her, but they left her behind as they fled Earth, and her gem was cracked, which is basically the gem equivalent of brain damage. After being trapped alone in the mirror for thousands of years, she was freed by Steven and stole the world’s oceans to try to get home. When she got back, she was forced to return as an informant for Homeworld and locked up for withholding information to protect Steven; Steven tried to convince her to come with him, but she was too scared to join him. To save him, she fuses with Jasper into Malachite and forces them into the sea, keeping both of them imprisoned alone at the bottom of the ocean and constantly fighting each other. Even after she is freed from Malachite, she pushes others away due to her trauma and anger. For example, when she learns the Diamonds are waging war on Earth, she flees to the Moon with the barn she and Peridot lived in (emotionally wrecking Peridot, as she’d lost her closest companion and all mementos of their relationship), and runs away even further when she thinks the Diamonds are drawing near."

happy disability pride month, can this website stop acting like autism and adhd are the only disabilities ever please

physically disabled people exist and we see the shit people say about us on this website - we're pushed out and ignored by our own community, disability positivity here always focuses on able bodied nd people and any posts about physical disabilities or chronic illnesses are immediately hijacked to talk about neurodivergence and mental health, and some of y'all will really act like physically disabled people are never hurt by ableism or that we're "privileged" somehow

autism and adhd positivity and acceptance are super important but please stop talking over physically disabled people or using neurodivergence as an excuse to be ableist. it's exhausting

They are not as high-profile as the WGA, but I would like to bring everyone's attention to the imminent strike action by thousands of hotel workers in Los Angeles. They are set to go on strike tomorrow, July 1st, 2023.

More than 15,000 hotel workers are seeking higher pay, better benefits, and working conditions. This includes an across-the-board $5 an hour raise, as well as affordable healthcare and better pensions. They also are seeking a ban on the use of E-Verify, which is used to deny employment to undocumented workers and workers involved with the criminal justice system. You can follow what is happening at their Twitter.
